Cover, 1889 sheet music for The Washington Post
This image is in the public domain in the United States. In most cases, this means that it was first published in the United States prior to January 1, 1923 (see the talk page for more cases). Other jurisdictions may have other rules, and this image might not be in the public domain outside the United States. See Wikipedia:Public domain and Wikipedia:Copyrights for more details.
This image was scanned by Daniel P. B. Smith from "Sousa's Great Marches in Piano Transcription: Original Sheet Music of 23 Works by John Philip Sousa, selected and introduced by Lester S. Levy." The book contains the notice "Copyright ©1975 by Dover Publications, Inc." However, because the page scanned is an exact facsimile of an 1889 publication, I believe that it is in the public domain and that the copyright notice applies only to a) the compilation, and b) the introduction written by Lester S. Levy.
