The Warriors Three are a group of fictional characters who served as supporting cast members in Thor published by Marvel comics.

[edit] Publication history

The Warriors Three had played a supporting role in the Thor title since the late 60s

In 2005 a mini-series was published centering around Thor and his allies in the Warriors Three, called Thor: Blood Oath.

[edit] Fictional biography

The Warriors Three consist of three Asgardian heroes: Fandral, Hogun and Volstagg. The group are first seen fighting alongside Asgard's heroes such as Thor, Balder the Brave and Sif.

When Thor's evil brother Loki brought Ragnarok down upon Asgard, two of the warriors (Fandral and Hogun) were killed off-panel. The third, Volstagg, survived and was discovered in hiding by Thor, only now being emaciated and frail.

Thor and the Warriors Three are sent on a quest as penance for accidentally killing an enemy giant during a time of peace. Although they fail in their quest, through the use of each warrior's unique capabilities, the adventure eventually comes to a good end.

When Ragnarok was seemingly destroyed all of Asgard and all people residing there, which would leave all three members of The Warriors Three deceased. Thor, Odin and all other Asgardians have yet to resurface and are presumed dead.

[edit] Similarities

The Warriors Three bear some similarity to the Three Musketeers, with Hogun the Grim as the secretive Athos, Fadrall the Dashing as the swashbuckling Aramis and Volstagg the Volumnious as the boisterous Porthos.
