Warrenton is a city in Warren County, Missouri, United States. The population was 5721 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Warren CountyGR6. Warrenton is a member of the St. Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area. Warrenton's slogan is "A City for All Seasons."[1]

Warrenton is located at GR1.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 5,281 people, 1,985 households, and 1,363 families residing in the city. The population density was 278.2/km² (720.6/mi²). There were 2,110 housing units at an average density of 111.1/km² (287.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 95.64% White, 1.70% African American, 0.42% Native American, 0.38% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.57% from other races, and 1.25% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.29% of the population.
There were 1,985 households out of which 37.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.8% were married couples living together, 13.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.3% were non-families. 26.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.59 and the average family size was 3.14.
In the city the population was spread out with 30.0% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 30.3% from 25 to 44, 16.8% from 45 to 64, and 13.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 88.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.7 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $34,022, and the median income for a family was $38,396. Males had a median income of $31,701 versus $21,896 for females. The per capita income for the city was $16,431. About 8.0% of families and 10.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 11.4% of those under age 18 and 15.1% of those age 65 or over.

Warrenton has direct access to both rail and interstate traffic via Interstate 70. Manufacturing consists of mostly light industry. The town's primary sources of external revenue are service facilities for travellers. Notable companies in Warrenton are Holland-Binkley and Coca-Cola. The Coca-Cola facility produces Dasani water and Powerade sports drinks.

Warrenton and the adjacent city of Truesdale, Missouri are home to the Warren County R-3 School District, which is fully accredited in the state of Missouri. The district currently has three buildings: Warrenton High School, Rebecca Boone Elementary (4th and 5th grades) and Black Hawk Middle School/Daniel Boone Elementary (both in the same building). Voters in the district approved a no-tax increase proposition to add on to the High School, build a second elementary school, and add a circle drive and landscaping as well as renovation to the BHMS/DB building.
