Warren Sawkiw

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Warren Sawkiw (born January 19, 1968) is a former Toronto Blue Jays radio sportscaster, who called Toronto Blue Jays games alongside Jerry Howarth in 2005 and 2006 seasons on The Fan Radio Network.

In December 2006, the Globe and Mail speculated that Sawkiw would not return for the 2007 season.[1] The Canadian Press reported on January 24, 2007 that he had been replaced by original Blue Jay, and former Houston Astros broadcaster Alan Ashby.

Sawkiw was a lifetime minor league pitcher (except for Spring Training in 1995 when he was a replacement player), drafted in 1990 by the Detroit Tigers in the 20th round, 517th overall. He joined the broadcast team as colour commentator, alongside play-by-play man Howarth, after the late Tom Cheek was forced to retire for health reasons.
