Warners Bay, named after Jonathan Warner, who settled the area, is a suburb of the City of Lake Macquarie in Australia. Its position on the foreshore of Lake Macquarie makes it a much sought after area for housing. The population of Warners Bay was 7,858 as at the 1996 census, with in excess of 615 businesses operating in the area.

[edit] Areas of interest

There are two main areas where most of the businesses in Warners Bay are situated. Near the lake foreshore there is a variety of local businesses such as cafes and restaurants with alfresco dining, the "Centro" shopping centre, specialty shops, boutiques and a post office.

The other is a large sized industrial estate situated along Hillsborough and Cardiff roads. Here there is an ice rink (where the Newcastle North Stars of the Australian Ice Hockey League play), a ten pin bowling alley, a gymnasium and many bulk item stores including furniture stores and gardening centres.

Other facilities in the bay include both primary and secondary schools, sports fields, a large private hospital and a performing arts centre.

The lakeshore has become a hub for recreational activity, both onshore and water based. Picnics, sailing and paddle-boating are all popular activities. A shared bike and walking path, which runs from the Art Gallery in Booragal to Green Point in Valentine traverses the lake foreshore. Every Friday night during the summer months there is the popular "Music in the Park", where local bands perform for free in front of the setting of the lake shore.

Warners bay is home town of the skitrip (Channel 9 TV show) and was seen in the first scene on the first episode.
