[edit] History

[edit] Samurai Shodown

Hailing from a powerful and notable family that resides in China, Wan-Fu is the general of the Qing Dynasty. With his cunning battle strategies and powerful army, Wan-Fu seeks to unify all of China. To this end, he searches for worthy recruits to his army, and hearing of particularly "powerful warriors", sets out to find them.

[edit] Samurai Shodown 2

Unable to find "powerful warriors," a prophet appears before the furious Wan-Fu and informs him of the existence of the "Seed of Destruction," which, in exchange for one's soul, can allow one to rule the world. Determined to find it all costs, as his hope of uniting China would no longer be a mere dream, so he leaves his homeland to obtain it. Wan-Fu's status after SS2 is unknown.

[edit] Trivia

  • He is the only character to change weapons in the series beginning with a scimitar then a pillar made out of rock in SS2. The rock was supposedly used for training as Wan-Fu admitted being out of shape. Wan-Fu later returns in the sixth installment of the series armed with a Chinese War Hammer.
  • In SS2, Wan Fu gains a peculiar new special move dubbed the Benpatsu Attack (meaning?). In this move, he slams his face into the stone pillar deliberately causing damage to himself. The true use of this move is to allow Wan-Fu to build up a full rage meter (which he will get upon completion of the move) with only minor damage done to himself in order to either use his super move more readily or simply to get a big boost in damage on his moves.
  • In one special move, and his during super move, Wan Fu will his throw his weapon into the opponent causing a large explosion on impact but also disarming himself in doing so. He is the only character in the series who can deliberately disarm himself in this manner because other characters, like Cham Cham who can throw her boomerang, will have their weapon return automatically. To make up for this drawback of losing his weapon every time he throws a projectile, Wan-Fu can, even while unarmed, utilize a range of powerful and useful throws.
  • In SS2 Wan-Fu is the only character who will adress the player in his ending. Here, Wan-Fu says the he has no ending and that it's a message to all those who are content with a generic ending. This is supposedly a pun directed at other fighting games at the time that had no character specific endings.[1]
  • Wan Fu and Neinhalt Sieger made cameo appearances at the end of Samurai Shodown IV. The condition to see either character is to complete the entire game within the time limit (Shown at the begining of the game) of the character the player is using.
