  • Birding - I'm an avid birder (AKA "birdwatcher"), birding mainly in the US, but also in Central America and Europe. It's a great excuse to travel and pursue my other interests as well.
  • History - especially European with emphasis on pre-modern Eastern Europe
  • Places - especially mountains, deserts, rivers, and other physical features. Extensive travel in the western US as well as my home turf, Maryland and the mid-Atlantic area, also in Central America and Europe.
  • Music - mainly Western Classical music, but World Music is also an interest, especially Cuban music
  • Languages - especially German, Spanish, and Russian.
