Talk:Wansford

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

[edit] Location

The article List of United Kingdom locations: Wa-West End gives a Wansford in Northamptonshire that seems to give co-ordinates that point to the Wandford refered to in this article. Is the Gazetteer wrong or is there another place called Wansford in Northamptonshire?

Also should this article be moved to to make way for a dab page at Wansford to cover the different places?

I can see why its in the Northants gazeteer, apart from the fact that its on the boundary with Northants and you're actually in the county leaving the village on the northside of the river. But its because the village north of the river was in the Soke of Peterborough which before 1965 was considered part of Northants, the haycock side was in Hunts which is now a Cambs district.

I think you are saying it is now all in Cambridgeshire. I will change ths gazetteer entry to reflect this.
As there are 2 places called Wansford would it be OK if I move this one to Wansford, Cambridgeshire and create a dab page at Wansford to cover both places. Or do you think that I should go with a Wansford (disambiguation) and add dab lines to the article?

If youre going by the ceremonial counties, yes its all in Cambridgeshire but since 1998 its been split again between 2 authorities as the northside of the river being in the Peterborough unitary authority and the southside in Cambs, but i would say put it as Wansford,Cambs but historically its split and always has been, there was a saying about 'Wansford in England' I beleive hehe
