Walter Sutherland

Walter Riddell Sutherland (1890 - 4 October 1918) was a Scottish rugby union footballer who gained 13 caps between 1910 and 1914 and was regarded as the best Scottish three-quarter back of his day. The outbreak of the First World War put end to his rugby career, and he served with the Lothians and Border Horse and later the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He was killed on 4 October 1918, three weeks before the armistice, aged 27.
