WalterCon

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

WalterCon is the North American user and developer conference of the Haiku Operating System. It echoes BeGeistert in Europe, although that conference has been running for significantly longer.

The first WalterCon was held in Columbus, Ohio in 2004, the second was held in Las Vegas, in 2005, and the third conference was held in Orlando, Florida in 2006.

The name comes from an injoke based around an April Fool's Day message on the then OpenBeOS website stating that the name Walter The Operating System had been chosen to replace OpenBeOS. This joke was backed up with a domain name, and a professionally designed logo for the Walter OS.
