Wal (bass)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wal is a brand of electric bass manufactured by Electric Wood Ltd. in High Wycombe, England. It was started in 1974 by electronics expert Ian Waller and luthier Pete Stevens. Wal basses are known for their exotic wood selection, custom electronics, and superb quality.
Wal basses are in very limited supply as each instrument is custom made by Pete Stevens. Their scarcity, coupled with their high demand, makes the instruments notoriously difficult to obtain - they are often considered collector's items. Wal's renown has earned it a rather devoted following.
Despite rumours to the contrary, Pete Stevens is busy servicing existing instruments and produces a small number of new instruments each year.
From http://walbasses.homestead.com/ " 2/25/2007----- There as (sic) been an incredible amount of speculation regarding Wal Basses and the current state of the company. Currently, the shop is being moved and no new orders are being taken until everything is in place to facilitate the manufacturing of these fine bass guitars. "
