Talk:Wall's ice cream

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Ireland the Walls company is called HB and in the past its logo was a blue box with hb written in it but it adopted the walls red heart in the late 1990's. All of its products are the same but package under hb. A plant used to exist next door to the Birdseye plant in Dublin but i dont know of any other Hb plants in Ireland, sugesting they are all made in Walls plants and the logo change was a saving scheme on the ink used on packaging.

Sorry this is not technically accurate. Unilever own the Wall's, Birds Eye and HB brands and many other brands around the world. When Unilever devised the Heartbrand for its ice cream offerings around the world, naturally both Wall's and HB adopted it. As you suspected, this was partly to take advantage of lower packaging costs as well as the obvious brand recognition advantages in an age of growing international travel. Products are indeed made in just a few factories around Europe for distribution by the various country brands/companies which also saves manufacturing costs ... although the carbon impact is preumably high. [edit] What is the relation of Wall's and Langnese?

Both were owned by Unilever but I suspect the Langnese part of Langnese-Iglo has been sold just as the Birds Eye part of Birds Eye Wall's has been in the UK. All frozen food companies have been sold by Unilever except the one in Italy. Abtract 11:18, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
