Image taken in 1887 in New York. Before Corbis, the image was apparently in the collection of Charles E. Feinberg. Said to be Whitman's favorite from the Cox photo-session, there were about seven images made at that time. Whitman greatly admired this image, and sent a copy to the poet Tennyson in England.
