Wakestock

Wakestock Action Sports & Music Festival , a wakeboarding contest and Canada’s largest action sports and music festival. Wakestock is the ultimate fusion of action sports, music, and youth culture entertainment, attracting crowds of more than 35,000 during the four days of boarding, bands and bikinis.
Held in Ontario, Canada at the following locations:
1998-2000: Bala, Ontario
2001-2004: Wasaga Beach, Ontario
2005-present: Toronto Islands, Toronto, Ontario

The name Wakestock refers to the famous outdoor music festival Woodstock.

In 2005 it was held on Toronto Islands from August 11-14.

Each year the wake board competition is accompanied by a music festival. There are several stages with different bands playing all day. This was the set list for the 2005 series[1]:

  • Friday, August 12th

Transient Noise, Ill Scarlet, Magneta Lane, Cursed, Misery Signals, The Black Maria, The Fullblast, The Loved Ones, Comeback Kid, From Autumn To Ashes, Rise Against, The Dead Kennedys

  • Saturday, August 13th

Summer Hero, 4 Barrel, Bombs Over Providence, The Reason, Protest The Hero, The Salads, Driver, Silverstein, Finch, Reel Big Fish, Goldfinger

  • Sunday, August 14th

Crush Luther, The Jimmy Swift Band, Nine Mile, Truths and Rights, The Pocket Dwellers

There are tents all over selling merchandise and food and giving away free stuff for advertising purposes.

There are also other attractions, in 2005 there was a skatepark set up for anyone with a skateboard. There was a Pro Freestyle Moto X demonstration as well as a rail competition set up for wakeboarders. There are also separate designated alcohol serving areas because the entire festival is for all ages.

Wakestock, the world’s premiere wakeboarding contest and Canada’s largest action sports and music festival lands back on Toronto Islands August 10-13 for four days of boarding, bands and bikinis.
