"Waiting for Tonight" is a song originally recorded by American female pop trio 3rd Party taken from their 1997 album Alive. American singer Jennifer Lopez recorded a version for her debut album, On the 6 (1999), and the song became the third single off the album and also the most famous version of the song so far. Released in 1999, the single peaked at number eight in the U.S., becoming Lopez' second top ten single; it also peaked at number five in the UK. The song is best known for its remix made by Hex Hector, which is one of the most popular crossover pop/club remixes of all time. There is also a Spanish version of the song, called "Una Noche Más" ("One More Night"). In 2006, Italian dance/house trio Lil' Love released their version of the song. There is also a version of the song in the popular dance video game Dance Dance Revolution.

[edit] Song information
The song was written by Maria Christiansen, Michael Garvin, and Phil Temple. The original version was produced by dance producers LCD. Jennifer Lopez' version was co-produced by Ric Wake and Ritchie Jones. In this Eurodance-influenced upbeat number, the protagonist recalls the history of her lackluster and pathethic lovelife; she often wept in self-pity for herself, and tossed and turned in her bed as emotions grew strong. However, she knew she had to hold on, and one day she fulfilled her longing wish by finding a lover. As it's been awhile since she's been in a relationship, she dramatically compares it to a movie scene, and is impatient to see him later that evening, causing her to chant, "Waiting for tonight... oh-oh-oh!/When you would be here in my arms/Waiting for tonight... oh-oh-oh!/I've dreamed of this love for so long, waiting for tonight..."
"Waiting for Tonight" was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2000 for "Best Dance Recording". In the same year, its music video won the MTV Video Music Award for "Best Dance Video" and was also nominated for "Best Choreography".
