Waitara, New South Wales

Waitara is a suburb of Sydney, Australia located near Hornsby, New South Wales.
The 2001 census community profile for Waitara revealed roughly equal proportions of men (47%) and women (53%) in a total population of 1700. Two thirds of the population was born in Australia with 82% being Australian citizens. Two thirds of the population are Christians. Nearly half the population (44%) have completed year 12 or its equivalent.[1] These demographics are likely to have changed in the last 5 years with the construction of several large apartment buildings in the streets linking Waitara and Hornsby.
It has one public school, Waitara Public School that has 2 current O.C (opportunity class) classes. Waitara Public school is partly located in Wahroonga. Waitara has a railway station closely bordering Waitara Public School.
Waitara is home to the second largest Korean Catholic Community Church, [2] which has produced the youth activity group WCKYS. WKCYS partakes in many competitive events from Warcraft 3 Tournaments to Basketball competitions.
