"Wait a Minute" is the sixth single to be taken from The Pussycat Dolls' debut album, PCD. This single was intentionally set to be released the same time as "I Don't Need a Man", which was released throughout Europe and Oceania. However, due to scheduling and the positive radio airplay of "Buttons", the single was pushed back. In addition, the single was also set to be released only in North America, but since the success of "I Don't Need a Man", the single will also be released internationally.

Although the video is being aired on British music channels and downloads are gradually increasing, no physical single release date has been confirmed in the U.K. Instead, the single was released as digital download only, on December 4, 2006.

Promotional singles were officially sent out to American and Canadian radios on October 17, 2006; however, some promos were sent out before this. The song was also featured in a television commercial for American electronics store Best Buy. The single will be released on February 24, 2007 in Australia. In March "Wait a Minute" will be also released in Germany as full CD single.

The music video was shot on October 8 and October 9, 2006, in Los Angeles, California and starts with the dolls dressed up as private eyes, skulking around a subway station, looking for Timbaland. When Nicole bumps into Timbaland, they playfully argue. The dolls then walk onto the train with him and start to dance on the poles on the train. A mother tries to shield her son's eyes, but he moves her hand away so he can watch. The dolls then leave the subway and start to block traffic by walking right into the middle of an intersection. Timbaland then gets out of his car and the dolls and him continue to argue. The girls then start to dance on top of his car. The video ends with Nicole telling off Timbaland and saying that she doesn't need what he gives her but would like it back.

[edit] Trivia

  • The station is in North Hollywood, California. There is a sign pointing to the Orange Line, on the LA red line subway, but, while on the train, the destination sign is set for a New York City Subway L train, 8th ave/L/Canarse.
  • In Europe, Timbaland isn't credited as a featured artist.
