As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Wadi had a population of 30,038. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Wadi has an average literacy rate of 54%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 63%, and female literacy is 45%. In Wadi, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
It is famous for three things, the ACC cement factory, which is one of the largest in the country, The Wadi Stone Marketing Company Pvt. Ltd. which is one of the largest Limestone Quarry Company in India, and the railway junction, which again is one of the most important in southern India. Trains bound for Mumbai,Chennai and Hyderabad pass through WADI Junction
