Wade in the Water

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Wade in the Water" is the name of a widely covered Negro spiritual, made popular in the 1960's by the Ramsey Lewis Trio and later by Eva Cassidy. The song was originally sung by Hariett Tubman to encourage runaway slaves to walk in the water (instead of on the land) in order to avoid dogs and trackers in their journeys north.
