WAD

The abbreviation WAD can refer to:

  • Doom WAD files; which are packages containing levels, graphics and other game data, often used to refer to modified version of these files.
  • Tomb Raider Level Editor WAD files; these are much like the Doom WADs, containing graphics, models and objects. However, these do not contain the level data.
  • An abbreviation meaning 'Working as Designed' within the realm of computer programming, especially within computer games.
  • Women and Development, a theoretical perspective on the role of women in development that emerged in the 1970s as a critique of the WID (Women in Development) perspective.
  • WAD is also used in the aviation industry refering to the 65 year old 'World Aviation Directory' or 'The WAD'. Contains people, program, company and product/service information. Today this Directory is also available online. See www.aviationweek.com/wad
