WABG-TV is an ABC-affiliated television station serving the Delta region of Mississippi (the Greenwood / Greenville / Cleveland area), Southeastern Arkansas, and Northeastern Louisiana. The station is licensed to Greenwood but maintains its studios and a separate administrative building in Greenville, the largest town in the station's coverage area. WABG broadcasts an analog signal on VHF channel 6 and a digital signal on UHF channel 32 from a transmitter located Northeast of Inverness, Mississippi. WABG is owned by Bahakel Communications and is offered on Suddenlink Communications cable channel 4. The station is known on-air as "ABC 6".

WABG operates a FOX affiliate on its DT2 digital subchannel. The FOX station is known on-air as "Delta FOX" and is also offered on Suddenlink Communications cable channel 10. Unlike the main WABG channel, WABG DT2 is not a 24-hour station. "Delta Fox" airs programming from 5:00 PM to 10:35 PM weekdays, 4:00 PM to 10:30 PM on Saturdays, and 5:00 PM to 10:35 PM on Sundays. "Delta Fox" airs all FOX Sports programming on weekends regardless of starting time; however, it does not air any 4Kids TV programs.

Syndicated programs on WABG and "Delta FOX" include The Oprah Winfrey Show, Dr. Phil, Entertainment Tonight, Judge Mathis, The Maury Povich Show, The Insider and Judge Hatchett.

[edit] History

WABG-TV's first broadcast was on October 20, 1959, as an independent station. It quickly joined the CBS network, but switched to ABC after complaints from WJTV in Jackson, Mississippi that they were encroaching on their coverage area. WJTV would serve as the Delta's default CBS affiiate until WXVT went on the air in 1981.

WABG established "Delta FOX" on September 13, 2006, the day after FOXNET shut down. The nationwide FOXNET channel originally provided FOX programming to cable subscribers in the Greenville / Greenwood / Cleveland television market, which was one of the last markets to be offered the service. FOXNET originally planned to close down on September 1, 2006, but was delayed until September 12, 2006 to allow WABG time to quickly put a FOX affiliate on a new digital subchannel.

[edit] Newscasts

All WABG evening newscasts are simulcasted on "Delta FOX". While on-air, the FOX channel simulcasts the main WABG channel for short periods of time.
