[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels

Hi thank you for joining the WikiProject. There is still plenty of scope for influencing things and making your contribution count. We are about establishing standards for Novel based articles and writing articles that meet our own and others high standards, and to improve Wikipedia's diet of articles on Fiction books, otherwise called Novels. If you have any questions, do ask. Please be very welcome. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 08:34, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] John Osborne

Cheers for the comment on my favourite playwright. Yes, a bit of an obsession of mine. I never met Osbo himself but my first-ever professional appearance was for the English Stage Company, not too long after LBIA had taken the place by storm. I did know many of the other personalities involved; Tony Richardson, George Devine, Mary Ure, Nicol Williamson, a full house of Redgraves, etc. </name-drop>

My page on George Devine is now up. El Ingles 22:50, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Igor Smialowski

I apologize about accusing you of vandalism. I know the citations were supposed to come from English language sources, but with Smialowski being really know only in Poland it will be rather difficult.

Hiya. Ive just created a new (and better, imo) userbox for soulseek and i thought is share it. you can look at it here. this new box allows you to share your soulseek username in the box itself. also, it adds your userpage to a category called "soulseek users". if you dont like the box but you want to be in the catergory just add [[Category: Soulseek users]]. anyhoo, just thought id let you know. -(chubbstar)talk | contrib | 06:21, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] As i Die

Just look at the cover Spearhead 19:14, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

It's also lowercase on the side of the jewelcase, and on the disc itself. Also the track is lowercased on both track lists on the sleeve. It jsut feels more appropriate to keep it that way on WP too. Spearhead 19:21, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Props for Def Jux work

Yo good job on doing some of those def jux albums. The template is almost done except for the Hangar 18 and S.A. Smash albums. Good work man. --Xxplosive 21:20, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music

Whats up? Hi, I'm trying to gather some more interest and support for the Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music. Please check out the topics and lets get our WikiProject to function better. Recently, I've taken an interest in the Wikipedia:WikiProject hip hop and I consider that WikiProject to be better developed. I am now writing to usernames on the hiphopWP who might be interested in helping with the punkmusicWP. Hopefully we can all work together to improve articles relating to punk as has been done well with hip hop. Finally, I am trying to gather support and opinions concerning the punk house article and specifically the Theta Beta Potata article which is currently in AfD (x2) at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Theta Beta Potata (second nomination). Please check it out and voice your opinion. Xsxex 09:20, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: leak discussion

Oh, I know. Over a year in Wikipedia taught me when to realize someone is saying something between lines. I can be a lot of stuff, but I try to be civil at all times. And I like starting conversations with "No offense taken" when someone states "Not to offend" or similar, as a way of acknowledging the feeling. If I had thought you were talking in bad faith, I would have not replied, or most likely, either contact your talk page or let a comment with a WP:CIVIL wikilink. Cheers! -- ReyBrujo 21:38, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jon Snow article

Thanks very much for backing up my Jon Snow reverts. I was beginning to lose interest in Wikipedia editing in the face of what appears to be POV-pushing, which when backed up by an apparent vociferous lobby is impossible to resist - an active majority even when wrong wins. I have little interest in revert wars and tend to give up easily on a conflict. I'm still a bit disillusioned - and worry about how high quality Wikipedia can become for current-matters in the face of POV-pushers, but your efforts have helped keep my interest. Thanks. Hello,

This is to inform you that the recent vote to update the spectrum used for album infoboxes passed. However, there are some follow-on discussions to fine tune one or two of the categories. It seems that my test didnt work. Oh well I guess I will have to try again. By the way dont bother me with your pitty warnings I have already gotten upwards of 50 of them. So just run along now before I have to really make you do somework.

[edit] Dates

Just as an FYI:

When you wikilink dates in the form "2006-10-21", the Wikipedia software displays them in the manner each individual user chooses in their "My Preferences".

For example, this Wikilink:

2006-10-21

shows up as "October 21, 2006" to me, because that's how I've got my dates set to display. It may show up differently to you, depending.

In any case, if you're going to wikilink dates at all, it's preferable to link them in the manner above, rather than October 21, 2006.

All the best,
Ξxtreme Unction

[edit] Alexander Litvinenko

Sorry about moving the references inside the commas. I forgot that they were supposed to go on the outside of commas. Nishkid64 00:33, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

The picture is relevant because Litvinenko was in the Internal Troops, please put the picture back and read the article next time. In regard of the quotation, I didn't mash-it-up as you asserted, but left it completely in the same form just taking out all the extra unnecessary space. There isn't a correct way of writing anything! It also takes up a lot of space in the article. Anyway let's have a talk about it. If you get time have a look for some more relevant pictures. Tom 12:56, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

You make an interesting argument, with seeming validity, on the quotation, although its unfortunate it takes-up more space. It's also not in the same font as the source and doesn't have his signature in our article. Sorry I'm being difficult! It's a good source but I don't think it's correctly referenced yet, next to the quotation in our article, so one of us should try and do that soon. Pictures: you make some good points. I was trying to get some relevant pictures to make article look nicer/more colourful (it's about a tragic subject i know). I was going to include a diagram on polonium. What pictures do you think we should put in? Tom 13:24, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sui Generis' albums

Hi, may I ask why you deleted the track list tables? I used the Madonna album model. Shouldn't all the album articles look the same?

[edit] Risible?

Re: Wise (Stetsasonic) Oh, really? "Member of Stetsasonic" is an assertion of notability? "Member of riot" is important, too, I imagine. When the "article" doesn't establish anything at all about what the "musician" is, doesn't offer any verification whatever that any of these claims have any validity, I don't think it's "risible" to call that an A7. What is risible is any claim of "world's first hip hop group." What's even funnier is that the damn thing sits on clean up for ages, you know enough to know who the figure is, and then you remove the A7 tag but don't lift a finger to fix the problems. Must be nice to be so insulting and irresponsible at the same time. Utgard Loki 18:41, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:Clownshoes.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Clownshoes.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:AllIGraaaw.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:AllIGraaaw.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:EmigdioPreciadoJr.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:EmigdioPreciadoJr.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ↔NMajdantalk 14:22, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Boris Album

Thanks for fixing the chronology color and directing me to WP:ALBUM on Sun Baked Snow Cave. I was under the impression that extra chronologies were supposed to be different colors to differentiate between bands (as I've seen done before). After checking out the policy there are some other Boris albums I need to fix. Olliegrind 10:24, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Request for help, Emo Rap

Would you help with a dispute in emo rap? The dispute is evident on the talk page: Talk:Emo_rap#Revert_05:31.2C_26_March_2007. User:Xcryoftheafflictedx has proven difficult to work with. Viewing the recent edit history going back to 05:31, 26 March 2007 would be helpful in getting an idea of what has been going on. The dispute is that I would like to preserve some of the content (the opening paragraph), and the structure of the entry (espicially the itemized criticism section). This is taking the from of a revert war between myself and this other user. This user is pushing POV, and has a higer regard for their writing abilities than appears justified. Actually, looking at the user's talk page it seems that he has a history of acting unilaterally, and being difficult to work with: User_talk:Xcryoftheafflictedx Thanks in advance.
