[edit] Traditions

  • Every year, in accordance with homecoming, the school plays host to its very own homecoming day parade, which happens right before the actual homecoming football game. The parade usually consists of spirit groups within the school, the band, various sports teams, and local elementary schools that are in the same area as W. T. White.
  • "Hook 'em Horns" is a common phrase used among students that symbolizes the school's mascot—a longhorn—and goes in accordance with its fight song and the same traditions as the University of Texas at Austin.
  • The Powder Puff Games are a common tradition every year. Here the various grades within the school compete against each other in a game of football with both girls and boys participating.
  • W. T. White always kicks off the new school year with the annual Luau Dance, which is a Hawaiian-themed dance that helps freshmen in particular feel more comfortable among the entire student body and learn to have an appreciation for W. T. White.
  • W.T. White is known for it's spirit groups that wear their group's respective jumpsuit to school on the day of the football game. Every year each spirt group will have a pledge class and the seniors that leave will pass down their jumpsuit to each's designated "little sister" or "brother".
  • W.T. White is known for the rigor of its AP (Advanced Placement) classes. W.T. White offers more AP classes than any other public or private school in the North Dallas area.
  • The high school baseball team has more District Championships than any other school in the district.
  • In the early 2000s the students began referring to the school as "Dub T." The nickname has gone on to inspire a popular t-shirt which has "Who you with?" printed on the front, and "Dub T" on the back.
