Talk:W. Wallace Smith

I'm not the original poster, I just thought I'd weigh in... Does anyone know the amount of material that is typically allowed under "fair use"? It seems to me that a limited selection might be appropriate. After all, we are only talking about one paragraph, not the whole page. --Dante Alighieri
- IANAL: Fair use is a very tricky matter with the GNU FDL. What might be fair for a free online encyclopedia might not be fair for a printed version for sale. And since our license allows for commercial redistribution without having to ask us we must be very strict on what we allow. If something is currently under the protection of a non-free license then we are really limited to extracted very obvious and short quotations and the occasional single sentence. --mav
The quoted amount is only a paragraph and a descriptive one at that covering the whole of W Wallace's life. I think it should be OK, but if you like the person to check with would be either the author of the book or the Community of Christ Church Historian --Kiwimac
