W2XJT
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
W2XJT was an experimental television station operated by Jamaica Radio Television Co.,owned by William B. Still. The call letters stood for eXperimental Jamaica, New York TV, and the station originally applied for channel 3 in 1940. In 1945 they amended their application to channel 13, and were granted W2XJT with a maximum visual power of 400 watts and aural power of 100 watts.
The station filmed "Friday Night Fights" at the old Jamaica Arena, but sadly, the good times were not to be, and the station folded in 1947, with no trace left at the former buildings it occupied in the area (now abandoned warehouses).
