Hi W-screen, and Welcome to Wikipedia!

Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you enjoy the encyclopedia and want to stay. As a first step, you may wish to read the Introduction.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me at my talk page — I'm happy to help. Or, you can ask your question at the New contributors' help page.

How you can help:

Additional tips...

  • Please sign your messages on talk pages with four tildes(~~~~). This will automatically insert your "signature" (your username and a date stamp). The Image:Wikisigbutton.png button, on the tool bar above Wikipedia's text editing window, also does this.
  • If you would like to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • If you'd like to tell us about yourself and meet other new users, be sure to introduce yourself at our new user log.
Good luck, and have fun. ~~~~

This template employs intricate features of template syntax.
Please do not alter it unless you are certain to understand its setup and parser functions and are ready to repair/revert all collateral damage if results are unexpected.
Any experiments should be conducted and all improvements tested in the template sandbox, or in your user space, before applying anything here.

[edit] Instructions

  • To greet a user with this template just as it appears above (your signature will automatically replace the ~~~~), place the following wikicode on the user's talk page:
{{subst:w-screen}}
  • To add a message before the last sentence, use:
{{subst:w-screen|message}}
Replace message with your desired message. It will be inserted into the greeting before "Good luck, and have fun."
  • To add a (level-2) heading above the box, use:
{{subst:w-screen|heading=text}}
The heading will be titled as what you replace text with.
  • To make the template transparent, for use on custom-designed talk pages with built-in formatting, use:
{{subst:w-screen|clear=true}}
  • The above options can be combined:
{{subst:w-screen|Wikipedia is far better than Britannica.|heading=true|headtext=Welcome to Wikipedia}}
