The island is created by river delta of the Morača River, on the northern part of the Skadar Lake. It has an area of 4.8 square km, and it's highest point is at 296 meters, making it tallest island in Montenegro.
The island is connected to the mainland by bridge, towards Podgorica, and by causeway across the Skadar lake, towards Bar.
St. Nicholas Monastery is located on the island, and is a well-known feature of the island. Vranjina town, on the shores of the Skadar lake, is called Montenegrin Venice, because of the natural setting. It is a popular fishing spot on the Skadar lake. Few fish restaurants are located on the island, most notably Plantaže restaurant.
