Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Bingle

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Non-notable and/or unverifiable. One of three dic defs recently contributed by an anon. Unable to find any relevant hits using various search strings. bingle clamp wastebasket gets one unrelated hit. Doesn't seem like a Wiktionary candidate. Niteowlneils 14:36, 25 Aug 2004 (UTC)

  • This may be a well-intended contribution (portmanteau word for basket + spring + dangle?), although the OED definiton is cuter: portmanteau for bob + shingle, a short hairstyle for women. Anyway, delete for dictdef. Bishonen 21:45, 25 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • "Das Bingle" was a nickname Bob Hope bestowed upon Bing Crosby, but it is clearly not relevant here, and these guys were old before I was born in case you were wondering. Denni 23:45, 2004 Aug 26 (UTC)
  • Das Bingle is ageless. "Bingle" is either a neologism not in use or a regionalism so specialized as to be unknown to the general language. Delete. Geogre 00:39, 28 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • I'm not buying it. Delete. And that's "Der Bingle". -- Cyrius| 02:14, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)
    • Which only goes to show how lousy Bob Hope's German was. :) Denni 21:26, 2004 Aug 30 (UTC)
  • Comment: note that in Australia, a "bingle" is a minor car collision. Although that presumably would go to Wiktionary. Lacrimosus 22:12, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)
