[edit] Moderator/Admin Talk
Howdy and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed your article beanchainsaw. Since the pronunciation you propose does not seem to be in common usage, I have nominated it for speedy deletion. Feel free to write a note on my talk page if you wish to contact me. In general, Wikipedia is not the place for jokes. Thanks, --Hansnesse 23:37, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note, and welcome to Wikipedia. Perhaps the ideal place to put the pronuciation would be on your user page, at User:Vortexhunter. If you're interested in some more work, it might also be part of a larger article on the name itself (history, etc.). The article Thomas is an example of such a page. Incidentally, I did see your messages on my talk page and on the article talk page, but did not have the chance to reply. I apologize that it was deleted (although I should note I did not actually delete the article (only admins can do that)) before we could discuss it further. Speedy deletion is a pretty rapid process, since there are many joke-type articles submitted every hour. It is perhaps a bit impersonable. If you really want the article recreated, you can flag down an admin (see Wikipedia:List of administrators), but in general neologisms should not be included. Below I am attaching a boilerplate welcome message, which has some useful links. Do feel free to contact me again if I can help with anything, or use one of the methods described below. Thanks, --Hansnesse 23:59, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks again for the notes. Wikipedia policy is perhaps more extensive than the deletion page lets on. For instance, WP:NOT, which includes the policy Wikipedia is not a dictionary. So if you were to create a page, it would have to be encyclopedic. Thus, as I note above, an article on the name Vincenzo might include a note about pronunciation, but probably should also include a history of the name, famous people, regional variants in spelling, usages in other languages, etc. As I noted before, Wikipedia is not really the place for jokes, neologisms, or original research (sometimes called things made up in school one day), so it may really just not belong in an encyclopedia. If you really want the material recreated, you may have to flag down an admin, although they may choose to not do so. You may want to check out those policies first. Thanks, --Hansnesse 00:16, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
