Was Shepard ever popular for reasons independent of Ally McBeal?

Vonda Shepard did some performances before Ally McBeal, but Ally McBeal put her on the map! Especially in season 2 when she was added as not just a musical guest, but a main cast member (which she remained as for the rest of the series). Bubble bunny
