Talk:Volvo 140 Series
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
To improve discussion on this model, we need to explain the revisions that have occurred over the model history.
Initial '69 model with chrome radiator grille, U-shaped door handles; "long-form" dash with radio facing passenger, sparse console with clock, Hazard and Demist switches, linear speedometer, thumbwheel heater controls, vertically-arranged tail-lights, indicators near bumper.
Second '71 revision with black grille and Volvo "diagonal", flush door handles,
The major revision before model end with bumpers jutting out, rectangular tail-light cluster, chrome strip across tail-end (144 / 142), re-organized dash similar to 240 Series dash (console has rocker switches for Hazard & Demist, ashtray / cigar-lighter, heater (push-buttons for air direction, lever for temperature, knob for blower speed) and radio (accessible to both the driver AND passenger); eye-level clock; glove-box with hinged door; traditional instruments; radio speaker positioned centrally and facing the windscreen)
We can collect further information on these revisions and use this as a way of explaining out the model's life easily. We could also explain at which point Volvo had added features to the model.

Simon Mackay
