Vocal Studies + Uprock Narratives was a 2001 album by Prefuse 73. The song "Smile in Your Face" is missing on the vinyl edition.
"Vocal Studies and Uprock Narratives" stands apart from the Prefuse 73 albums since, in that it does not exhibit the commonly perceived contemporary sound of "glitch." Rather, it does, in a sense, define a unique category of the genre, in which the visceral irregularities of vinyl recordings--whether they be static samplings or jazz snippets or record pops--musically enhance or entirely compose the beat.
This album features vocals from rappers Mikah 9 (formerly of the hip-hop group Freestyle Fellowship), Aesop Rock, MF Doom. It also features the Sam Prekop from indie rock band The Sea and Cake.
