Vladimir Vasiliev (martial arts)

Vladimir Vasiliev is the director and chief instructor of the Toronto School of Russian Martial Arts located in Thornhill, Ontario, where he teaches Ryabko's Systema as the top student of Mikhail Ryabko.
He was born in Tver, Russia and joined the army as a young man and soon after he was inducted into one of the Special Operations Units. He has 10 years of extensive military and special operations service, including regular high-risk covert assignments and missions. He also served as trainer for paratroopers, SWAT teams, and elite bodyguards.
After the revolutions of 1989, he moved to Canada, and in 1993 founded the first school of Russian Martial Art outside of Russia. This school is considered the worldwide headquarters outside of Russia.
He has since personally trained and certified over 100 qualified Russian Martial Art instructors in 13 countries, and has created a number of instructional films.[1]
He is the author of The Russian System Guidebook and co-authored Let Every Breath... Secrets of the Russian Breath Masters with Scott Meridith.
