Vladaya River

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Vladaya River (Владайска река, Vladayska reka) is a river in Sofia, a tribuary to the Iskar. It originates in Vitosha, passes through several neighbourhoods of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, and joins the Iskar river east of the city.

It is not a proper river but a larger stream. The name of the river comes from the village of Vladaya lying south of Sofia at the southwestern slopes of Vitosha. The river rises near Vladaya and enters Sofia at Knyazhevo. After about 5 kilometres in the city the river is captured by a canal and goes into underground pipes at the goods station close to the centre of Sofia.
