Vlaai
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vlaai is a type of pie, originating from the Dutch province of Limburg. Invented in Weert, it is nowadays available in all of the Netherlands, as well as in parts of Belgium and Germany.
Normally circular, a vlaai consists of a flat bottom made of dough, edged upwards at the end. It is filled with rice or fruits, such as apple, apricot or cherries and then baked, sometimes topped with sugar or whipped cream.
