[edit] Autobiography
Vlad Blanton was born in Minsk, Belarus in 1987. When he was one year old he moved (with his parents) to Italy while waiting to be accepted in to the United States of America. When he was two, he finally reached the American soil.
During his highschool years, Vlad decided to homeschool and joined a local center for homeschooled teens in Amherst, Massachusetts called Pathfinder, which was then later renamed to Northstar when it moved to Hadley, Massachusetts.
He is now ([current date] - 1987) years old and is planning to go to college in the Fall of 2006.
Vlad Blanton prides himself with his many ongoing projects and community work. He is currently employed at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst as a Linux guru and website developer. He considers himself a minor part of various Free Software communities such as KDE and Linux. He loves writing, and has been known to contribute articles to Slashdot, Wikipedia, and local newspapers. He plays the piano, creates digital music, draws, paints, values community, and still has a social life. Vlad is also a teacher at the Northstar homeschooling center and has taught classes on Philosophy, Politics, Rhetoric, and Open Source.
Though it might sound like Vlad is a complete geek, he is not. He is not a programmer, and doesn't spend all his time in front of the computer. Vlad is interested in the philosophical values of Open Source projects, loves nature, politics, science, literature, and learning. He is a writer, a mathematician, and a free-natured partier.
[edit] Business's and Public Projects
Vlad is the owner of the company Digital Edge.
He is also currently working on SFEN, (a recursive acronym for SFEN Free Education Network), an online community/resource for homeschool teens and alternative schoolers to chat, share projects, and meet each other. The site is currently under development and will be linked to when complete.
