Viscount Wimborne

Viscount Wimborne, of Canford Magna in the County of Dorset, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1918 for the Ivor Guest, 2nd Baron Wimborne upon his retirement as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. He had already been created Baron Ashby St Ledgers, of Ashby St Ledgers in the County of Northampton, in 1910, four years before he succeeded in the barony of Wimborne. The title of Baron Wimborne, of Canford Magna in the County of Dorset, had been created in 1880 for the second Baron's father Sir Ivor Bertie Guest, 2nd Baronet, of Dowlais.
The Guest Baronetcy, of Dowlais in the County of Glamorgan, had been created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 14 August 1838 for the second Baronet's father, the engineer and businessman Josia Guest. The first Viscount's son, the second Viscount, represented Breconshire in Parliament. As of 2006 the titles are held by the latter's grandson, the fourth Viscount, who succeeded his father in 1993.
The politician Frederick Edward Guest was the third son of the first Baron. Also, Lady Charlotte Guest was the second wife of the first Baronet.
