Viscount Mountmorres

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Viscount Mountmorres was a title in the Peerage of Ireland created on 29 June 1763 for Hervey Morres, 1st Baron Mountmorres. He had been created Baron Mountmorres on 4 May 1756. The 3rd Viscount adopted the surname de Montmorency. The 2nd Viscount succeded as 10th Baronet in 1795. His ancestor, John Morres had been created a baronet of Castlemorres, Kilkenny on 28 March 1631 in the Baronetage of Ireland. The titles became extinct on the death of the 7th Viscount in 1951, while the baronetcy passed to a distant relative. This too became extinct on the death of the 19th Baronet in 2003.
