The titles of Viscount Barnewall and Baron Turvey were created once in the Peerage of Ireland on 29 June 1646 for Nicholas Barnewall. On the death of the fifth viscount in 1800, both titles became dormant. In 1814, Matthew Barnewall's claim to the titles was allowed. On his death in 1834, the titles became extinct.
