Dark Planet: Visions of America

"Dark Planet: Visions of America" or "DPVOA" is the first installment of the Dark Planet film series, a set of films still forthcoming from Illuminati Pictures, that focuses on areas of life less explored in mainstream cinema.
[edit] Premise
A documentary on underground, youth subcultures and the music that drives them, DPVOA systematically studies four of America's most influential groups in the years 2004-2005: skinhead, straight edge, black metal and the Zealot Movement. The "cast" of the interviewed and performing bands included legendary acts such as Murphy's Law, Strife, Krieg and P.O.D., among many others, spanning twelve major cities and many in between.
The film had exclusive screenings in North Carolina's Triangle area in the winter of 2004 and was distributed to stores across America in DVD format in the summer of 2005. Once a member of the Straight Edge subculture himself, director Jason "Molotov" Mitchell called the film "a celebration of extremism." Mitchell's wife, DJ Dolce also made an appearance as an anti-feminist musician in the Zealot section of the film. The DVD package included the film's score by the underground DJ collective, "Intelligentzia."
