State Route 74 is a primary state highway in the southwest part of the U.S. state of Virginia, running along an old alignment of U.S. Route 58 Alternate in and east of Norton. It begins at U.S. Route 23 Business (Park Avenue) and heads east on Coeburn Road and Kentucky Avenue, passing underneath the new U.S. Route 23/US 58 Alternate, and ending at US 58 Alternate east of Norton.

SR 74 was initially part of State Route 11, defined in 1918. It became part of State Route 64 in 1933, State Route 70 in 1940, and U.S. Route 58 Alternate in the early 1950s.
The first piece of SR 74 was designated in 1958 along Coeburn Road west of Kentucky Avenue,[2] though it did not exist until the new US 58 Alternate along 11th Street and Kentucky Avenue was completed in 1960.[3] The new US 58 Alternate (now partly U.S. Route 23 Business and State Route 283) in eastern Norton was completed in 1988, and SR 74 was extended east over the old road.[4]
