The Virginia Southern Railroad (AAR reporting mark VSRR) is a Class III short-line railroad that started in November 1988. The line runs from Burkeville, Virginia to Oxford, North Carolina, that is 75 miles. The portion of the line between Clarksville, Virginia and Oxford, North Carolina has not been in use for more than a decade and is overgrown with trees. The VSRR is headquartered Keysville, Virginia and they interchange with Norfolk Southern Railway only at Burkeville. The Virginia Southern is run by the North Carolina and Virginia Railroad and is owned by RailAmerica.
