Virgin Active

Virgin Active is a chain of health clubs in South Africa, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. Initially a South African Company, The Health and Racquet Club, it was at near collapse when it was acquired by Richard Branson's Virgin Group at the personal request of Nelson Mandela. It has subsequently expanded its operations to Italy, Spain and the UK.
On the November 1st 2006 it took over the UK-based chain Holmes Place.
