Talk:Virtual Sheet Music

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Virtual Sheet MusicĀ® is not only the name of a music publisher, it is a concept created in 1999 in the digital era of the Internet. I saw other music publishers listed here such as Ovation Press which is only a "company name" instead of a concept. Please, tell me how to modify my entry in the right way.

Thank you.

Hello! The reason that I flagged the article is due to the fact that it seems to be written with intent to promote the company. There are several "red flags" to this, such as use of the registered trademark symbol in the name (this usually indicates that the article is written by someone affiliated with the company, which we strongly discourage), and also in no way indicates why the company is a notable corporation. Are there third-party sources, unaffiliated with the company, which have written about it and from which an article can be written? Seraphimblade 17:19, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
The Ovation Press article seems to suffer from the same flaws. I have accordingly placed a request for its deletion as well. Seraphimblade 17:22, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your reply and explanation, I understand. We have been reviewed by Apple computers on their iReview section in 2000 and also on some classical music magazine. Does that would suffice? Please, let me know.

Anyway, if we can't list our company would be possible to list the concept of "virtual sheet music" ? That's a trademark and a concept I invented personally in 1999, please let me know.

Thank you for your help.

Those sources would help a great deal in establishing notability! If you can link me to them, I'll give you a hand with rewriting the article and they do count as non-trivial mentions, I'll assist you in rewriting the article with a more neutral tone from those sources. I will withdraw the speedy nomination fom now since the article is being worked on. (We'd also need to move the page to a name without the "R" symbol, per the style guidelines such symbols generally shouldn't be used in articles.) Seraphimblade 18:00, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Thank you! I need only to collect them. Since they are articles from magazines, can I put a copy acquired by scanner on my website to show you? Or please tell me how to do it. I need to do the same with the Apple's article since it is no longer online. Please, let me know.

Thank you very much for your support.

I forgot: about the trademark, if you suggest to remove the R, that's fine for us until that doesn't brake the trademark/copyright law (our attorney said us that anytime that wording appears somewhere the R must be added since it is a registered trademark...). Thanks.

Not even Microsoft has the "R" appear in their article header, it's generally presumed that a company's name is trademarked. So I think you ought to be fine there. :)
As to offline sources, those are just fine! You may wish to email them to me rather than posting on your website, for copyright reasons. I won't post my email on this page for spam reasons, but you can send me an email by going to my user page and clicking "Email this user" in the toolbox to the left. Once I get them I can assist you in referencing from them and placing the proper references into the article. Seraphimblade 18:38, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Great! I will collect that information today and send it to you.

Thank you again.

Seraphimblade, I have just sent you an e-mail with a link to download the requested documentation. Please, let me know if you got it.

Thank you.

Today (2-12-07) I tried to rewrite it with a more "encyclopedic" style and removed some part I really don't know who added it (commercial phrases, etc.). Please, help me to fix it any further. Fabrizio Ferrari.--Fablau 15:53, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Oops, sorry. I tried to write it in a unbiased and rigorous manner, but I guess I am not the best at doing this. That was my first major article edit, after all. I'll try again. Please correct me if it's still advertising-like.

I also corrected another mistake that I did not commit; the "over 20,000 users" bit was probably the most-ad like part of the entire article. -Nousernamesleft

Wonderful! I really think this page is now perfect! Thank you very much for your help, really appreciated. --Fablau 23:04, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

This article has been tagged as "laking notability". How to improve that? I can't find any information about how to improve notability of an article. Thanks in advance for any information and help.

Thank you very much for the compliment! I don't know how to improve the notability, but perhaps the concept of Digital Sheet Music should have it's own article. -Nousernamesleft

I have discovered there already is an article on digital sheet music. I just need to po the "This article is... For Digital Sheet Music see..." tag.

Yes, I contributed to wrote the Digital Sheet Music article. What did you mean with your past phrase above? Please, let me know. --Fablau 03:14, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

I meant I discovered the DSM page, therefore the content about that concept on this page should be condensed to a notice at the top of the page. Nousernamesleft 23:18, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
