ViPNet Safe Disk is a commercial disk encryption software produced by Infotecs Company for Windows OS. Safe Disk has a long history: it was developed in 2002, but before that, it existed as a constituent part of ViPNet VPN solutions.

Safe Disk principle of operation is as follows: It creates virtual encrypted drives – so-called containers, where the user can store the sensitive data on his desktop or laptop. Containers are visible as standard disk volumes. Encryption process is transparent and automated: data is automatically encrypted, when the container is mounted and decrypted, when the user writes or reads the data respectively.

  • AES and GOST encryption algorithms support with a key length – 256 bits;
  • Safe Disk has a sensitive data recovery feature, if the worst-case situations occur – corruption of the hard disk, or virus attack on the user PC;
  • Configuration recovery feature support – it allows to roll back to the moment when unwanted changes to the sensitive data have not been made;
  • Safe Disk supports e-Token’s electronic keys.
