Vipin has over 20 years of experience in building and delivering technology solutions for Fortune-100 sized global organizations as well as small/medium sized companies and the public sector. He is a founder and CEO of Instant Systems Inc, a cash-flow positive startup which is developing the next generation of Software-as-a-Service solutions for inter-enterprise procurement and financial chain applications. In addition, he is an advisor/investor for a number of startups in software, offshore services, and life sciences areas.

Prior to founding Instant Systems, Vipin was the Chief Technology Officer and VP of Products for PublicBuy.Net, a leader in electronic procurement for state/local governments and provided technological leadership for state-wide eprocurement projects for states of Texas, Idaho, Maine, and South Dakota. Vipin and his team also developed and sold vertical-specific software-as-a-service products for K-12 procurement, SchoolHouseLink, and for airport procurement systems, AirportLink. Vipin played a key role in PublicBuy’s acquisition by Tier Technologies Inc (NASDAQ: TIER), a government sector financial systems company, in May 2004.

Vipin came to PublicBuy in November 2001 as a result of its acquisition of Simplexis, where he was the CTO and VP of Engineering. At Simplexis, Vipin helped raise over $35 million in the first round from well-known venture capital firms including Internet Capital Group (ICG) and General Electric (GE) Equity.

Before Simplexis, Vipin reported to the CIO/CTO at Bechtel Group, the well-known engineering-procurement-construction firm with over $16 billion in annual revenues and about 45000 employees. At Bechtel, Vipin managed enterprise-wide development and worldwide implementations of project control/management systems and procurement/supply chain systems. Vipin led the development and implementation of Bechtel Group’s world-class supply-chain systems that are being used by numerous organizations and thousands of users worldwide. In his career, Vipin has delivered industrial-strength software applications using state-of-art technologies in various technical and management roles for diverse client organizations like Exxon, DuPont, Motorola, Ford, CIBA-Geigy, Saudi Aramco, Lucky-Goldstar, GE, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Vipin has a BS in Engineering from National Institute of Technology at Trichy (RECT/University of Madras) and MS and PhD in Engineering from University of Louisville, Kentucky, where he held a prestigious fellowship. During his academic and research career, Vipin developed innovative artificial intelligence applications for advanced process control, published over a dozen research papers in international conferences, and earned many national and international awards.
