Violet UK

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Violet UK, or Violet which was its initial name, is a project on which Yoshiki Hayashi, founder of Japanese band X Japan has been working since the band's breakup in 1997. The music of Violet UK is comprised of a variety of genres, combining classical piano, digital drum loops, and guitar.

The project's debut album was originally to be released in 2002, but postponed to the following year for unknown reasons. While at that time announced as a worldwide publication, it did not come out in 2003 either. In 2005 a symphonic concert was released on DVD, featuring Yoshiki Hayashi, the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra and music originally written for Violet UK. It is noteworthy that this was actually recorded as early as December 2002. For the album, another release date was announced, September 22, 2005 (the anniversary of X Japan's dissolution) but also missed. Instead a single track named "Sex and Religion" was published through iTunes Japan. As of 2007, a major release by Violet UK has yet to see the light.
