Villanova sull'Arda is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Piacenza in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 120 km northwest of Bologna and about 25 km east of Piacenza. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,928 and an area of 36.5 km².^[1]

The municipality of Villanova sull'Arda contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Cignano, Sant'Agata, and Soarza.

Sant'Agata is probably best known as the home for over 50 years of the composer Giuseppe Verdi who was born in the village of Le Roncole in 1813, who lived in the nearby town of Busseto, and who built the Villa Verdi in 1848.
