[edit] ...

Template:Villagepump redirects to Template:Villagepump, so I moved MediaWiki talk:Villagepump to "Template talk: Villagepump" (this page; there was no page with this name before).

Is it just now or has it always been that links to other languages included here don't work on Wikipedia:Village_pump ? -- User:Docu

Uh-Oh! Half the mark-up's gone screwy! Compare this page with how it appears on Village Pump. <nowiki> tags are visible and external links aren't rendering correctly. Big bad! --HappyDog 13:15, 1 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Some settings may have changed since we first used this. -- User:Docu

I'll move the interlanguage links back inline. Martin 13:33, 1 Feb 2004 (UTC)

It's not just the interlanguage links, the external link and the interwiki links are gone as well. -- User:Docu

Hmm, the <nowiki> tags (boy does that look silly in the source!) seem to be being escaped into >nowiki< rather than being interpreted as wiki markup when the text is included. My uninformed guess would be that the stages of including, parsing and html escaping are happening in the wrong order somehow (getting escaping right is always a headache) - IMSoP 18:45, 1 Feb 2004 (UTC)

The end key doesn't only work in Internet Explorer. I use Mozilla Firefox and the end key does the same thing. --Ed Senft! 19:22, 13 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Also, the END key text was added after someone requesting a link to 'most recent additions' (i.e. jump to bottom of page) on the pump. This removed the need for the link. I think a larger issue is that the END key won't work properly if the page isn't fully loaded, as it will go to the end of what's loaded so far. I added the text, and I'm happy to see it removed, so long as people know why it was added in the first place. --HappyDog 00:56, 14 Feb 2004 (UTC)

I don't think it's worth adding a line to the pump based on a request by one person. Better to educate that one person on the correct use of their browser, rather than forcing the information on everyone, I would have thought. Perhaps add it to the wikipedia:FAQ if it becomes common. [edit] Table form

I think the table form clarifies things. Bensaccount 20:45, 11 Apr 2004 (UTC)

I agree. It also makes it clearer that how to discuss an article isn't clear :-), so I added a bit more text; I also added another example about asking questions for the reference desk because I'm not sure that one example is enough based on all the questions the page gets. Angela--talk page link is exactly what was needed. I'm still learnin' what's available. THanks. Elf | Talk 04:11, 16 Apr 2004 (UTC)

[edit] New section table

I've added a new section table at the top to a) explain what each section is for and b) remove the problem of the limit of template inclusions in one article. I think it makes things a little clearer. violet/riga (t) 14:41, 3 Oct 2004 (UTC)

This new look is obscenely bloated. Someone needs to compact it *A LOT*. →Raul654 19:45, Oct 3, 2004 (UTC)
You were right - I've changed it around now. Much better, I hope you'll agree. violet/riga (t) 19:58, 3 Oct 2004 (UTC)
No, it's still far too bloated. Both of those tables need to be merged and compacted. →Raul654 20:08, Oct 3, 2004 (UTC)
I've combined the tables. Any better? - 20:55, 3 Oct 2004 (UTC) Lee (talk)

[edit] Wikipedia:Village pump and "newbies"

 • Halló! It maight be quite iritating fro "newbies" to "to purge the server cache of this (Wikipedia:Village pump) page" if they edit a "subpage". Normaly you "return" to the subpage and do not see the message. This means that it is updated (imediately) only if someone visits and "purges" the cache for Wikipedia:Village pump.
