As an aficionado of talk radio for many of my formative years I believe in the content that these brave new world entrepreneurs are giving to the radio community.

Not only are the shows informative they touch the soul with heart felt moments of gut busting laughter….the likes that Lenny Bruce would deeply appreciate.

Topics run the gamut from the paranormal to riveting debates on Aqua Man’s sexuality. The shows offer a myriad of captivating guests like Alex and Alyson Grey, that the audience can only benefit from by expanding their horizons.

My final note is a plea to urge those responsible at Wikipedia for deletion to not delete this page from its database; I think it would be a great loss.

Valhalla!

So is the editor that felt compelled to post the 'disputed neutrality' and other tags at the top of the page not going to elucidate on what their problem is with the page? I don't know how wiki users are supposed to fix whatever it is this person has a problem with unless they take the time to make it clear here. If you can take the time to tag up the page I would imagine you could take the time to post what the impetus was for your gripe so it can be fixed. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 165.124.90.64 (talk • contribs) 15:36, October 23, 2006 (UTC).

[edit] Neutrality

Statements in an article need to be sourced, particularly if they promote a certain point of view. Right now this article isn't exactly neutral because it makes claims that are biased towards the show and not attributed to any source. You cannot just say "program X is a really innovative and progressive show" for example. You have to be able to attribute a statement of that sort to a reliable source and it should be written: "program X has been referred to as an innovative and progressive show by <source>" along with a citation to the media where the source made this statement. A few of the problem statements that should be sourced or removed:

"From the beginning the Viking Youth Power Hour has made their name by breaking new and interesting ground in podcasting."

"The Viking Youth Power Hour has helped shape the podcasting community from it's inception and continues to push the boundries of that medium."
"The Vikings quickly became defined as one Chicago's elite sources for podcasts taking ranks next to Madge Weinstein."

---i'll reword this. tried finding the articles on line but they aren't available. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.21.103.186 (talk • contribs) 17:28, October 24, 2006 (UTC).

"Together the two shows saturated newspaper stands with features in Chicago Magazine, The Red Eye,...<the rest of this is sourced and part of this could be fixed with rewording>"

"Utilizing podcasting's grass roots medium to valuable ends, the Viking Youth Power Hour characteristically attacks issues that mainstream media ignores. Some of their more poignant efforts in this respect include helping" <this just needs to be reworded to take out value judgements unless it is sourced>--Isotope23 16:34, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cleanup

Most of the cleanup problems are the way the links/references are done (with the external linking) and some of the layout. It's not hard to fix and if the NPOV stuff gets cleaned up I can reformat it. It's easier for me to do it than for me to explain how to do it.--Isotope23 16:34, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

sure, i'll take care of the NPOV stuff today.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.21.103.186 (talk • contribs) 17:28, October 24, 2006 (UTC).

[edit] Importance

If the statement "In 2005 the Viking Youth Power Hour became the first ever podcast to record their show on the playa at the Burning Man festival at Black Rock City" gets sourced, I think this tag could be removed. I know there are other claims in this article ("The Viking Youth Power Hour was chosen as Chicago's Favorite podcast...") but I don't think any of them really demonstrate how and why VPPH is important or relevant per the WP:WEB guidelines for web based material. Being the first podcast recorded from Burning Man is a pretty good claim to notability however.--Isotope23 16:34, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

The best way the above can be claimed is to point to the Theme Camp listings from 2005 which state the shows recordings at the event. Lorenzo from Psychedelic Salon started posting the Palenque Norte talks as podcasts sometime after the VYPH late last year and the BurnCast started doing podcasts about the burn earlier in 2006 as well, but VYPH was definitely the first podcast recorded on the playa and really still remains so. Not sure how else to source it other than a link to the BM Theme Camps page from '05.

it looks liek the image is a broken link right now. any idea why that happened?

hopefully these edits are what you are looking for. if not please elucidate so they can be fixed appropriately.

thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.21.103.186 (talk • contribs) 17:28, October 24, 2006 (UTC).

  • Much better... I left the cleanup tag on for the moment until a get a chance to fix up the linking. It might be a day or 2, but I will get to it shortly.--Isotope23 18:02, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Finished cleanup

I finished the cleanup, reformatting, and removed the tag.--Isotope23 16:30, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
